You will remember several months ago I asked for your views on possible plans by West Wiltshire District Council to introduce fortnightly household waste collections. This would include bringing back the popular compost collection. I was a little disappointed that I had little feedback with just four people responding. At the March Full Council meeting the final go ahead was given for the scheme that will start in October. I felt that I was unable to support this and was one of two Councillors who voted against the scheme. The Council are planning a big PR Exercise over the coming months to let residents know how the scheme will work. Week one your household waste will be collected along with your kerbside recycling. ( Please note if your bin is overflowing any extra waste will not be collected.) Week two, your compost and any kitchen waste will be collected. This has now been given the final go ahead and I am starting to receive letters and phone calls from residents unhappy that bins will be collected on a fortnightly basis. Even at this late hour I am more than happy to pass your views on so please keep the letters and phone calls coming. Please note my new email address is terrychivers@whitleywilts.fsnet.co.uk Terry Chivers |

Mrs T Carter of WCC said in a letter,"the work is part of the key bus route network project for improvements to bus stops, which forms the local transport plan. so far detailed plans have only been done for the stops by the post office at Tynings rd. Parish councils are being consulted about the project to facilitate community imput on design, colour, etc. To minimise any negative impact and retain the positive benefits of the improvements for bus users. |
